I've been on the hunt for a matte box solution that doesn't cost $6000.00 and was hoping something out there exists which won't completely break the bank. I have a Canon KH13x4.5 KRS SY14 lens attached to it which I would like to use with the matte box. It needs to have a sunshade at minimum because there will be a lot of outdoor action and the more light control the better. Bonus points if it includes a follow focus module or if it can be added on as a separate module later. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Have you tried VOCAS SYSTEMS BV (http://www.vocas.com/) yet? Sometimes they have a nice offer as well.

Excellent suggestion here. I'm surprised I've never heard of Vocas at all! I'm going to give Miller Canada a call tomorrow as they seem to be a reseller of Vocas products.

Thanks!

O'connor Obox is the best constructed for the least amount these days. They are shipping slowly, however. Runs about $1100.

I only just heard about O'Connor Matte Boxes yesterday! It turns out the production house a few blocks away started carrying them for rental. I'm going to have to check them out. The Vocas ones are looking great, but if O'Connor has an even more cost effective solution then I think it will definitely be worth my time to consider them.

There's also the Genus wide matte box which goes up to 105mm and the TLS hawk and raven range which go all the way up to 130mm dia lenses.

Hi,

I have the genus with my (older) pdw-f330:

Pro: its lightweight and versatile, price is very reasonable
Contra: it feels a bit cheap, not very stable

Have a look at the 'Shoot 35' website - they have just brought out a 4'' Filter tray 'swing away' mattebox & follow focus system. 15mm rails etc. Well made & not a fortune....... so the reviewers say.
No connection with the company.
Honest......
