The XM2 (GL2) is a fantastic cam and is capable of producing stunning images.
When I looked at title creation I thought, well you can create crude titles and key them into video. But not even that - you can take a still and key it in using level and colours. Ok you can make a title in photoshop and load it to the card.
Since this is a serious cam, it would be used by people with a serious need for quality stuff, and surely they would be using a NLE of some description and would do these things in post.
The manual is somewhat vague - it tells you how to do things, but not why you should be doing them.
Have I lost the plot or missed the point somewhere?

Hi Mel,

Not sure that I understand your question, but here's our main "Title Mix" thread...

The advantage over doing this in post on an NLE is that it's immediate, in camera, for those times when you need it "now if not sooner."

Graham, basically - what's the point of title mix? I really can't see any, when it can be all done in post.

Yes, it is immediate in camera, but you still have to know that you want it and prepare it beforehand.

Can half see the point, but why create it in camera (unless you shoot a title in camera - bit amateurish).

. .It's also got a gazzzilion times digital zoom too! Now that HAS to be amateurish. I've never used it. - So?

It doesn't have XLR inputs. It doesn't have a zoom ring. It doesn't have a Black Balance. It doesn't have a 1/3 CCDs. It doesn't have an interchangeable bayonet lens option. AND - shock horror - it isn't black!

But . . It does have a 20x Zoom. One of the best pieces of glass in the industry on the front end. It does have manual controls for 2 channel control. It does have zebras. Oh yeah .. it has the ability to take stills too!

Grazie

The lens is what the camera is all about for me - it is just a pity that the tape transport and body are not to the same standard.
