Just got a new edting PC and tried plugging the Gl2 into it for capture- Xp could not install hardware. Anyone know how to get the Gl2 to be recognized by the Firewire port.
Specs:
Windows XP pro
Pentium 4 Dual core
2 GB RAM
250 7200 RPM HD
Firewire 800
Media Studio Pro 7

Help appreciated

I experimented, and found that there are no settings in my GL2's menu that will keep it from being recognized by XP when I turn the cam on.

Unforturnately, we can't rule out a fried firewire port on either end, although it sounds like the computer at least knows that something has been connected. You need to test the cam with another computer, and/or test the computer with another cam or other firewire device to narrow it down.

One more note. As with all computers and computer-like devices, sometimes a weird state is entered that only a cold boot will correct. I would try removing the backup battery (in the LCD hatch) for a few minutess.
