Not sure whether I'm writing in the right forum but could really use some help here:

My DV tape deck's chewing up tapes so as a last resort I've managed to convince my client to accept master files on DVD (as data files, not video).

Problem is that when I use the standard Windows 7 DVD burner it takes AGES to write. I thought it would be faster than real time but its more than double! I can't understand why since I have a brand new DVD writer drive installed. It must be the software.

So what would you guys recommend that I use to burn data files onto DVD? I used to have Nero but its way too heavy on the system and I just need something simple and straightforward. Any ideas?

Maybe the problem is the way the source files are stored. If your hard drive is slow or needs to be defragmented, then I suppose that could slow things down. Try moving all your source files to a clean, portable USB drive and see if the DVD burn speed improves.
