What is the best way to pull the best quality stills from my AVI? I'm using Vegas 5.0 as my NLE, but is there a way to pull better looking stills from my movie then what Vegas has to offer? Can Adobe Photoshop help? Thanks.

Unfortunately it is not possible... best you can do is get some 720X480 grabs (unless you are doing HDV), deinterlace, take them into photoshop, color correct and make them 300dpi. Grabs from video are great for the web but not for printing...

Deinterlace the exported image (unless you shot progressive) and then digitally enlarge the image using something like Shortcut PhotoZoom Professional (http://www.trulyphotomagic.com/shortcut/site/content.php) --- it actually works quite well.

Just as Ash said - I do the same... but I also add fill flash +5 or so if it is a still taken from video shot indoors. It's helps a lot.
