Hopefully there is a guru on here who can help.

My current project has required me to synch audio to video (I have 6 tracks of audio) and then create multiclips (for the most part a 2 camera shoot).
I have Merged the audio to create merged clips and then created 2 Camera Multi-clips from these. Unfortunately, these particular multiclips cause FCP 5 to crash. Multiclips made from regular clips with the scratch audio work fine and Merged clips work fine.

I'm on a G5 Dual 2.5, 2.5 Gb Ram, OS 10.4.2, FCP 5.0.2, QT 7

Thanks

Evan, I'm not sure what you mean when you say "merged audio", also are you syncing by timecode or in/out points. One thing you could try is export you're synced audio and video as separte Quicktime Movies (not self-contained to save HD space) and then re-import them into FCP and make them into Multi-Clips. Not the most efficient solution, but would do the job. Again, not sure, maybe you've tried this already. Or you could create multiclips of just the video and just drop you're merged sound underneath the video. Keep me posted and I'll see if I can help more.

In FCP5 the synch function under the modify menu is "Merge Clips". It gives you the option of synching by Mark In/Out or by TC. When you perform this function (I did mine by In-Points. Used the slate clappers for synch-old style) it creates a "New" clip called
xx-x (merged). It adds the audio tracks to the clip. I have far too much ftg to do what you recommended (although worth a try) as I have approx. 35 hours worth.
