I made a jib arm that rotates on a vertical pipe, but the pipe is just a bit too narrow for the socket - there's a tiny bit of rocking motion..

any suggestions on adding thickness to the pipe - something to wrap around it or coat it with?

I think duck tape is too gummy and soft. I saw some metal tape which is a foil backing on butyl adhesive, but it seems a bit soft too.

I thought maybe a wide teflon tape wrapped around it would be tough and smooth, but I can't find any teflon tape except the 1/2" used for plumbing...

inventors and craftsmen (women) - any ideas?

I realized I hadn't searched for wide teflon tape on the internet - and so I did and found some!

http://www.cshyde.com/Tapes/Data/fatPTFEinfo.htm

although an initial browse on their site shows most of the links and pages not available. :(

I found this site - http://www.westcoastplastics.com/HTML/teflon-adhesive.php - that has 4" wide teflon tape 5 mils thick...but in 36 yard roll for $250/roll! too much!!!!

then I found this one - http://www.qualitymatters.com/ARY-VacMaster-Chamber-Sealer-Teflon-Tape-p/qmar-979822.htm - and the 3.5" wide teflon tape is available by the foot. Just need to find out how thick it is...
