I recently got hired by a media company that is OK with me using their G5's with FCP HD, for personal work as long as I do it outside of work hours and I use my own firewire drive to store all project data. Problem is I had previously spent a whole day logging 4 of my tapes using my PC laptop on Premiere Pro 1.5. I haven't actually captured any footage yet. I just want to Import the batch list into FCP so I can move on using FCP, especially since the G5's are equipped with Abode Creative Suite CS, Livetype, Motion, After Effects and DVD Studio. I tried the export batch list function in Premiere and then tried to import it using FCP but I got an error message. I'll have to get back to you on the exact wording if needed. To avoid starting from scratch. Does anybody have any ideas? Is this even possible ?

well, i haven't messed with the batch list export function in premiere pro, so this is sort of guesswork.

but when you export a batch list in fcp, you can choose to export it as "tabbed text," which will give you a document that you can open in excel.

i'd assume that the premiere batch list will also open in excel. so maybe the thing to do would be to take a small fcp project, turn off any unnecessary columns in the browser, leaving just stuff you need like media start, media end, etc. then take a look at that document in excel. next, open the premiere batch list in excel (or word or whatever 3rd party app will open it,) and paste the values from the premiere batch list into the fcp batch list. then save it in excel (as a tab-delimited text doc.)

as long as the document has the same column headings as the one you exported originally, fcp will be fine with it.
