Hi,
Now this is on my mind and starting to bug me, can Green/Blue screen be used in a live recording, by this i mean can i have a green/blue screen behind my actress and whilst seeing the video live can i also have the green/blue screen doing something else the same time or is this not at all possible?

Thanks.
Gavin Thomas.

There are dedicated hardware tools for this from companies like Ultimatte.
This is exactly how weather reports hare handled for live TV broadcasts.

There aren't any traditional, realtime software solution that I know of if that's what you're looking for.

Some video mixers have keying functions built into them.

If you have time for post, you may not necessarily need to key things live. But I'd record a small amount of footage and key it right away to see if it keys well. You usually don't want to fix it in post (unless you have a celebrity or something, which makes it cheaper to fix it in post).

Oh, I forgot to mention....
If you have a Mac, dvGarage has a plugin for Motion2 that is insanely easy and quick to use, contains calculations specifically for pulling clean keys from DV and works in realtime at SD resolutions:
Link: dvMatte Blast (http://www.dvgarage.com/prod/prod.php?prod=dvmatteb)

At just $99, it's well worth a look .... if you've got a Mac with Motion 2.
(no, I'm not affiliated with dvGarage, just happen to have seen a demo of this a few weeks ago and was floored by the speed and quality)
