Hey all, i'm trying to decide whether to purchase the dvfilmmaker program. ive downloaded the newest demo version and have began testing it with my raw hdv footage. I'm having problems getting the final product to be the same(in terms of aspect ratio) as my raw footage.

Ideally, I'd like to turn clips to 24fps for edit, then come back and 'film look' the whole thing. When i do a straight up convert 60i to 24 in dvfilmmaker, the result is a 4:3 picture. (from my 16:9 raw clip..) There is an option for squeezing to a 16:9 letterbox, and this seems to be proper aspect, but letterboxed. why?? Is this the only way for my clips to be run through and remain 16:9?

i might ask if its due to the fact that im using the demo version, but it says very clearly on the site that its the exact same thing, adding the logoburn.

does anyone see where im missing something? any advice or direction at all?

thanks!

heath

4:3 is just the way QT plays it, it interprets 1920x1080 as 1440x1080. But the info is there, just open a HDV program in FCP5 and drop your footage in it, you should see it 16:9
