I have a dilemma that I need some help with. I edit with Sony Vegas at home and need to take some footage to school to print to tape. What types of video files will FCP recognize? I tried to import an .AVI and FCP told me the file wasn't in the proper format. Vegas exports .AVI but it says Video for Windows next to it. I need to transfer the video without compressing it so the quality stays the same.. Thanks for the help.

Exportt as QT file in the same format as what you edit in Vegas. If you edit DV, then export a DV QT file.

The only QT file available is the .mov rendering. Will that be sufficiant?

Well I rendered the video with the quicktime .mov format but now I have a new problem. The file is huge (5.2GB). The clip is only 2 mins long. What else can I do?

You probably took QT uncompressed. You should choose DV Qt and you will have the same compression as with DV AVI.
