I'm using the SONY HVRM25AU deck to import/capture footage and it has taken in a SONY HDV tape and jammed. The lights turn on for a few seconds, the take up pins and rollers move around a bit and then the deck shuts off. The manual says to unplug the deck, wait for the residual power to leave the device, then plug it back in and the deck should eject the tape. I've tried this to no avail.

Now I've got the top casing removed to see what's going on inside. The tape has wound back into the cassette, so it's not stuck around the pins or rollers or the playhead. Nothing seems to be moving much when I plug in or unplug the deck.

Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks!

-also apologies if this isn't the right thread to post this in.

I downloaded the manual from SONY and figured out that the "KEY INH" switch on the front was switched to "on" which deactivates manual functions such as play/pause/eject. So lesson learned, make sure KEY INH is "off" to operate the deck!
