Hi all!

A few weeks earlier, we had the extremely huge chance to watch phasmids (Extatosoma tiaratum to be precise) laying some eggs. This is amazing how they look like Aliens and other creatures of the SF world! 3D and 2D are available for this 3min video.

And some other pictures of these incredible insects, still in 3D:

Enjoy!

Excellent! I love the close-up stereo!

Can you say more about how it was done? What kind of rig, IA, lenses, etc?

Thanks a lot for sharing!

Thank you!

We used JVC HM100 with dioptrics filters mounted on a home-made mirror rig. After that, it was hours of tests and a bit of waiting until an egg come.

Just as a side note, these JVC are very good for slow movements. Because they aren't synchronized, it's quickly disturbing when something move fast on the screen. But they are small and easy to manipulate. The perfect compromise for phasm filming ;-)
