The (original) HDD on my NVS2525 Pro+ (FW 1.53) has stopped working. It gives this error message on startup:

0.0Kb

HDD ERROR

Error detected in internal HDD

Insert external HDD for E-Copy

I don't see this error message in the manual, and don't understand what it means. If I attach an external HDD it says "USB recognised" and then goes into a loop, saying "Insert external HDD for E-Copy"

If I attach the NVS2525 Pro+ to a PC via USB the PC recognises the device, and reads its HDD.

The drive is shown as 0.0k, but I know there were at least 64GB on it, and I can see the files when attached to the PC.

I opened the NVS2525 Pro+ up, and removed the Seagate Momentus HDD, and attached it to my PC and the drive worked just fine and I was able to copy data over from it. So I don't quite understand why the NVS2525 Pro+ isn't recognising the HDD.

I put a different HDD in the NVS2525 Pro+ and that new HDD worked fine too.

What can I do to get the NVS2525 Pro+ to recognise its original HDD again?

All answers are, as ever, welcome!

Thanks

Mark

May be too late, but that means the critical area which contains FAT area may be damaged, i.e., bad sector.
Try to check the internal HDD using the Self test function.
You can find it at the HDD management menu.
Do the full test and that that will about 2 hours.

E-copy mode is added later.
E-copy mode is emergency copy mode.
When error on the internal HDD, it help you can still copy to external USB HDD.
But the USB of NVS2525 is USB2.0.
So if you going to add USB3.0 HDD, you need to use USB2.0 micro-B cable.
This cable is easily available because it is used as a charger cable for most of Android phone.

Hi Larry,

I can't even get to the Self Test function.

When I turn it on I get the error message I wrote in my first post, and the only option I have it to turn the device off.

How can I get the NVS2525 to check the Hard Drive?

Thanks

Mark
