I was shooting with my D800 yesterday and had, on three or four occasions, a 'Recording Interrupted - Please Wait' error message. I was using fast Lexar Professional SDHC cards, Class 10, 400x speed. The affected takes were less than a minute long. It was a bit worrying that the camera randomly locks up like that. I have emailed Nikon Europe's support centre to see what they say.

Matt,
I was filming the other day with my D800 hooked up to a Atomos Ninja 2 for almost 3 hours. The camera shut off and got a error message. Think it got to hot. It was almost 100 degrees. Once it cooled down it was fine. You shouldn't be over heating after only one minute. I think it has something to do with the card you are using. Does the camera shut off or just stop working and give you an error message? I would try another card in it and see if you get the error.

I agree, try another card. I've yet to have that happen on mine. Running SanDisk extreme pro 95mb/s but I've also used slower cards without any issues.

I've used the cards before without any problems, so I would be surprised if they were the issue.

The temperature was warmish by UK standards, but not very hot. The camera had been on for about an hour but had been used for a series of short takes.

I've reported the problem to Nikon Europe so I'll wait to see what they say.

Nikon have responded, basically saying format the cards before use and update to the latest firmware, both of which I had done before the problem (I always format cards before use). The final line said try a different card, which is strange as both the Lexar Pro UDMA cards I had problems with are on their approved list for the D800.
