Hi,

The firewire out on my camera is not working and Canon have quoted almost as much money for a second hand camera as for the repair.

I am looking for a workaround and hope somebody here can make a suggestion.

I have a lot of HDV tapes that were shot in HD at 25p (PAL) and have recently tried ingesting from a Sony hdr hc3 camera via firewire but unfortunately it appears to only read tapes shot at 50i.

Does anybody know of another camera or possibly a deck that can read 50i with a firewire output please?

Or any other suggestions you may have much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Regards.

Whoops apologies, I meant 25p not 50i.

Perhaps something in the Canon VIXIA HV40 line (PAL version)?

Hi Ross,

Don is right, what you need is a Canon HV40. In Australia and Europe, it's known as the Canon LEGRIA HV40 (while VIXIA is the North American equivalent). I could not find a product page on the Canon Australia site, but perhaps you can contact them directly regarding availability. Meanwhile, here's the LEGRIA HV 40 product page from Canon Europa:

Canon HV40 - LEGRIA HD Camcorders - Canon Europe (http://www.canon-europe.com/For_Home/Product_Finder/Camcorders/High_Definition_HD/LEGRIA_HV40/)
