Sony HDV/1080i/PAL footage -> NTSC 1080p Pro Res...how?

A client gave me two minidv tapes containing Sony HDV/1080i/PAL footage.

(The camera was the Sony HDR-FX1E)

I need to transcode to NTSC.

I would hope I can also get 1080p to match other 1080p footage he has.

If not, I'm "willing" to settle for 720p.

And can I get a flavor of Pro Res or am I doomed to H264/.mov?

(I ask the above because I have never worked with HDV or PAL footage let alone the combo of the two!)

Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

Be well.

Do a Google search for 'Pavtube Video Converter for Mac.' It costs about $35. There is a free trial version to test it out. From memory it can convert your PAL HDV footage to Apple ProRes at various frame rates to suit the NTSC market.
