Hey everyone, I am looking for some feedback regarding if this footage can be graded or color corrected. I shot this interview and need to know if it can be fixed or if I need to reshoot it.

Here are two grabs from the shot. One is the original, the other is after applying the Cinestyle profile in 5Dto RGB3 which i used to convert to ProRes.

We were in some bright sun, so exposure got kind of messed up, I am not so worried about some of the background sky getting blown out, but I need to take way the gray cast(on the original file) especially on the subject's face, but I don't want to darken the image.

The cinestyle profile applied looks a lot better, but I need to get rid of the excessive red on his face and maybe bump it up so it's lighter and make the image overall not so blue. I

am not the best at color correction or grading, so some suggestions might be good :) I am using FCP and Apple Color.

The footage is from a GH2.

I think the image itself looks fine, and you could grade it to look however you'd like. It's hard for the image to have an "opinion" sometimes when everything gets a little too flat and gray. I'm not sure how Apple Color works, but here's a still I graded in FCPX using a LUT, some more warmth, and a few brightness and contrast adjustments.

Not saying this is how it should look, but I always think it's kinda fun to grade other people's shots. Maybe I should be a colorist...

Like Nate always curious to have a grading tweak. A couple of goes here. Just tried to keep as much detail in the sky, brighten and skin tone adjust the subject and keep in basically in the 1v PP video range.

The second shot uses a bit of selective gentle defocus to the edges to help focus the viewer's attention to the subject

Thanks Christopher. How did you do the defocusing? I like that look

Any footage can be graded/color corrected,
just for fun try to download Davinci Resolve light, it's free, you'll be amazed what it can do;

T. How did you do the defocusing?

Can be done with a number of plugins such as Red Giant or just with a light gaussian blur mask. Which I would assume FCPX has.

Added an s-curve and small -blue correction followed by slight unsharp mask.
