Dear all,

Anyone look into the new Blackmagic 4K camera, the Ursa? It looks like a great production workhorse, has interchangeable lens mounts, and can be gen-locked. And it cost around $6K.

I'm curious to hear what y'all think!

I felt the URSA is quite large (Alexa size) but the slightly-smaller AJA Cion also has genlock/TC and global shutter for $9000.
JVC's GW-SPLS1 4K super-35 sensor cam includes genlock and the camera head has a MFT mount so it can be adapted to PL, EF, F, etc. The recording unit can be up to 20 meters away from the head in the rig.
They didn't give us any price indication. More info here: NAB2014: JVC demos four new 4K large sensor cameras for digital cinema at DV Info Net (http://www.dvinfo.net/article/acquisition/nab2014-jvc-demonstrates-four-new-4k-large-sensor-cameras-for-digital-cinema.html)

Also, ioIndustries (http://www.ioindustries.com) has some small global shutter cameras that have C-mount by default but can apparently be adapted to PL.

Thanks, Tim! Good info.

Any idea if the IO cameras are genlockable? I don't see it on the spec sheet.

Yes. Tri-level sync. Spec sheet is here. The 2KSDI (http://www.ioindustries.com/provideo/products/2ksdi_specs.html)

This isn't a new product this year but it is shipping.
