I just wanted to pass along that I managed to get my issues with the Pocket Camera audio solved. I tried the iRigPRE DSLR hack and a Rode NTG-1 with the gain all the up on the iRig and mic setting at 100 I mangaed clean audio I can work with. The iRig is an inexpensive audio pre-amp that feeds phantom power to the Rode.
