Does anyone know a good place to buy a decent lighting kit for DV? I was looking at a few places, but they seem out of my price range (+1000). Has anyone had good experiences with a company that they bought a decent kit for a decent price? Thanks

Try here (http://tinyurl.com/dfslk). If you want more info, try a search here on Rostronics

Also try The low budget lighting article (http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=19944) stickied in the lighting forum here.

It lists most of the random stuff you would find useful in a lighting kit.

Thanks, someone else turned me onto Rostronics.com and I thought they had some nice stuff, but I wanted a kit with a 1K in it as well (I am thinking of the $425 kit with two 600/300 watts, softbox etc). I know I can add them, but I thought I would look to see if there is a kit elsewhere. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't know, but what does anybody here think of the lighting kits available on Ebay? They range from $450 - $1000 depending on how much stuff you get in them, and the components are comparable to what I see from any independent dealers.

I purchased my Glidecam, jib crane, tripod and an lcd on eBay, and they all linked to companies that I really enjoyed doing business with. Just a thought.

The lighting kits I saw on Ebay were waaaaay overpriced compared to Rostronics. Also, just finished creating my Chinese Lantern globe today thanks for Steve Spears and his site - awesome soft light from it!

Mandy,

If budget is a concern, GO WITH THE BRITEK KITS AT ROSTRONiCS!!! I am using these lights extensivelly since 5 months and I can tell you, it's a great product! you can view my first comments and other users comments here: http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?t=44040

If you want to customize a kit to have a 1K light, Tom at Rostronics will arrange something for you, he is very nice and flexible.

You can go wrong with these lights.

Thanks for the link. I was looking again at Rostronics - I wonder if it is cheaper to get the products individually rather then the kit? Are the kits designed to give a better price?
