I was at the SMPTE conference yesterday and got to play and find out more about the Colorado shoot with Russell Carpenter ASC. It was great to see a live, working version of the camera. A few takeaways...:
1) apparently it has a higher clean ISO than the C300 MK II (6400)....meaning 8000 is as clean as 6400 or maybe more....need more tests.
2) As I had mentioned before and confirmed by the guys on the shoot, the camera felt about 1/2 the weight of the ALEXA but built like a tank!
3) Menus....if you can run a C300, C300 MK II, you'll feel right at home with the C700.
4) VF is REALLY good...very sharp, great info layout and with my old man eyes, a fantastic diopter.
5) Remote is a must have, especially for an AC working with the Cam Op.
Here are some pics.....

I'm going to stop by. Not that much chance that any of my projects will need to rent this level of camera but always good to be up on the latest and greatest. I went to the C300 MKII all day class at Canon Hollywood, it was a day well worth spending, I feel as I learned at least three things about the C300 MKII that didn't know before, it made me like the camera even better than I did before.
