View Full Version : Synch issue/frame loss using Odyssey 7Q with FS700

Hi All
Just wondering if this is a problem anyone has experience with and might have a solution that bests my temporary fix in post.

First the set-up:
video recorded for 57 minutes with the following set-up:
FS-700 outputting 4K RAW 24p
Odyssey Q7 recording 4K - HD prores 422 24fps (firmware 2015.12)
Premiere Pro CC 2017

Problem
If the clips are transferred from the folder using Prores transfer 2.5.0 the resulting file goes over 12 seconds out of synch by the time the clip ends.
If the individual files are stacked next to each other on a timeline they all have a gap of 6 frames of audio between each one.

Is this a firmware issue or is there a link in the set-up that might be putting the video into 23.98fps?! I'm baffled by the issue and it's frustrating having to spend time fixing the issue in post. Any answers most welcome!

I will have to check when I get back in reach of the camera but the FS700 doesnt do true 24fps. It is only 23.98.

Did you have the oddsyee locked to 24 or set for same as source?

Dear Gareth,

Chris is correct.

The FS700 lists 24 frames per second in the camera menus, but at least in NTSC countries, the output is 23.98 (23.976).

I do recommend that you update to our latest firmware, 2016.10.1641.

If you had the Project Rate in the Odyssey set to 24.00 fps, then you will have the symptoms you describe.

But, we have a solution for you.

Please use on CD ProRes Transfer Tool, available on our website, under Support, under Software Utilities.

Point the Source to your Files.

Create a new Destination Folder and Point the Destination to the new Folder.

Then set the Project Frame rate to 23.98 in our Tool, then click Transfer.

And you may call me.

We will be happy to help.

We do recommend that you use our CD ProRes Transfer Tool for uploading the files.

exactly right! changing the frame rate on the transfer tool fixed the issue and it's good to know about the FS700. While I'm in the UK it was a stateside purchase.
Very much appreciate your time and swift response. It has saved some headaches!
Cheers!
