Looking for a wired or wireless remote to activate the video recording AND a couple of the function buttons, if that's even available. I've downloaded the iphone app and see that it can be done with that, but I will be using this camera in areas where wifi may not be available hence, a wired remote is preferred. A wire remote also allows me to keep my hands off the camera and eyes on the camera's screen while operating. Suggestions?

VariZoom makes a wired remote that works with the FZ2500. I have the RockDVX model from my DVX100 days and it works great for starting/stopping and zoom. I doubt if there is a wired remote that would control more than that on the FZ2500 like there were with the Lanc system on Sony's and Canon's.

Hi Larry,

You don't need a wifi network for the Panasonic app to work, the camera creates its own wifi hotspot. All you need to do is link your phone or pad to the camera wifi for full control.

Thanks Roger. I'll give it a try tomorrow. I thnk I still prefer the wired remote with rocker zoom control so I can focus my attention to the camera screen instead of the phone screen. Will give the phone a try until I purchase something else.
