View Full Version : Light stand adapter Steve Bleasdale March 2nd, 2017, 09:27 AM Hi guys, I have a couple dark venues next week and want to use my halogen lights on a stand but need some kind of adapter to clamp onto light then screw onto light stand thread ( see picture) steve Edward Carlson March 2nd, 2017, 10:35 AM I think you're looking for a TVMP adapter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/124760-REG/Avenger_E390_E390_TVMP_Yoke_to.html You have a baby pin stand, and you want to attach something with no stand connector at all, right? There's also a light duty one that has a 1/4-20 stud at the top: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1046652-REG/matthews_350625_baby_pin_adapter.html Steve Bleasdale March 2nd, 2017, 11:07 AM Ha thank you very much Edward the top link looks the one, brilliant thanks Steve Bleasdale March 3rd, 2017, 09:02 AM Back to the drawing board, I am looks by more like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Camera-Convert-Adapter-Tripod-Monopod/dp/B01EZQFTZK But I need it longer than the usual ones. About 40 to 50 cm Nate Haustein March 3rd, 2017, 09:22 AM What kind of lights? Is this what you need? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004MR3HCK/ref=mp_s_a_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1488556225&sr=8-20&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=manfrotto+light+stand+adapter Peter Parker March 3rd, 2017, 10:26 AM Steve, if you get stuck, Ive got 2 x 800 watt red heads with stands you can borrow. I'm up the A59 , just south of Preston. Peter Steve Bleasdale March 3rd, 2017, 11:15 AM Thanks Peter that's very kind of you, but i may invest in some myself as the venues seem to be getting darker by the weeks, plus the DJs are becoming Dracula's for everything dark? Steve Bleasdale March 3rd, 2017, 11:24 AM What kind of lights? Is this what you need? https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004MR3HCK/ref=mp_s_a_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1488556225&sr=8-20&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=manfrotto+light+stand+adapter Cheers nate that might do it , but may be to small, here is the hologan light that's great and a clamp with the male thread on the end that needs to go into female, but the top of lightstand in earlier picture also has a male thread. So I need female one end to go on male on stand then the male from lamp clamp to go into female. Phew might do what Peter has get two red heads! Haha Ken Plotin March 3rd, 2017, 01:53 PM Steve, that spring clamp on the light's foam handle doesn't look sturdy enough to mount to any stand, especially with another adaptor in the chain. There is not only torque on the spring, but on the ball, adaptor and 1/4 20 thread as well. I think your idea of getting a couple of used Red heads is a good one. :) Ken Steve Bleasdale March 3rd, 2017, 03:19 PM Think your right ken thank you Peter Parker March 4th, 2017, 07:16 AM Steve, I'll sell you my red heads if you make a reasonable offer. They'll fit your stand. Steve Bleasdale March 4th, 2017, 10:25 AM Hi Peter, have they got the barn doors on them, with or without stands? Two brand new with stands on eBay 68 quid? Peter Parker March 5th, 2017, 05:06 AM That's a good price Steve, I'd be asking £60 for mine. If you decide to go the Ebay route, HWAstudios, which I think you might be looking at, have a look at their dimmable red heads. They're a little more expensive but sometimes 800w can burn your eyes out 😊 Steve Bleasdale March 5th, 2017, 07:41 AM Cheers Peter they are the ones I am looking at as they are dimmable cheers mate Peter Parker March 5th, 2017, 08:38 AM Steve, the one's for £68 don't have dimmers. The dimmer version ar £79 for 2. Steve Bleasdale March 5th, 2017, 08:42 AM Ye that's what I mean cheers Pete Steve Bleasdale March 5th, 2017, 10:30 AM Have yours for sale got the dimmers, stands and barn doors Pete? Peter Parker March 5th, 2017, 11:14 AM No, mine don't have dimmers but they have barn doors and stands. I would seriously consider getting ones with dimmers. I've shot in situations where 800 watts was too much and could have done with dimmers. Perhaps you might be OK if you bounce the light off the ceiling. Steve Bleasdale March 5th, 2017, 02:31 PM Ok Pete thanks for advice I have got four leds I will use them on stands and on camera cheers bud |
