I just picked up the new Yi 4k+ action camera and I'm quite impressed, it will do 4k at 60 fps using a bitrate of up to 135 Mbps. Stereo audio, LCD display, voice control, RAW image format support, 2.4 and 5 GHz WiFi, electronic image stabilization, USB-C, Sony image sensor. The thing looks great, I've previously been shooting with four GoPro Hero4 Black cameras but I'm going to pick up a few more of these Yi cameras.

Yes, the Yi camera can be controlled via an app, and there is also a basic Bluetooth remote available.

Thanks John
I have been happily using 'C' mount GoPros for macro natural history work, they have HDMI out making it possible to use a recording monitor. I believe 'C' mount Yis are available or coming but unfortunately lack the HDMI out that I finds so useful when controlling the camera remotely.

You're right about the lack of HDMI out, however, I believe that composite video out is available via an optional cable that uses the USB-C connector. Composite video would be good to check for framing but not much else.
