The blackbird is the best mechanical steadycam you can buy for the money to use with smaller camera's, it never let me down over the years that I used it and CMR has the best customersupport ever, even if you live on the other side of the planet like me. I personally am using a gimbal now but I never leave to a wedding without my blackbird as a backup. I have had my previous gimbal fail once and I was glad I had my blackbird on standby, you need less experience to use a gimbal and you can do certain movements that are more difficult with a steadicam like a blackbird but when it comes to reliability, there is nothing better and it's worth the extra time you need to spend to learn using it

Just that you know, Rich did not ask me to say this but when something is good that can be said as well, the blackbird was my first real steadicam and I have never regretted buying it. I would buy another one but unfortunately they are so good you only ever need one :) But for those who need something that just works then $359 is a great deal for a full kit!
