Hello!

What will this mean for the image? I shoot both S-LOG (quite new at it) and REC709. Does it mean that the image won't be as grainy if you have to crank up the mids, blacks or whites in post? (I know you shouldn't have to but... it happens...)

Expansion of ISO/ GAIN Settings

The ISO/GAIN settings in the (CAMERA/PAINT) menu have been expanded by allowing you to now select a lower minimum ISO sensitivity. No longer do you have to have the base ISO set at 3200 when using S-Log2/S-LOG3. The lowest ISO setting you can now record in is 2000.

New ISO setting ranges
S-LOG2 ISO2000 to ISO102400
S-LOG3 ISO2000 to ISO102400
HLG – ISO800 to ISO32000
HLG1 – ISO400 to ISO16000
HLG2 – ISO640 to ISO25600
HLG3 – ISO800 to ISO32000
STANDARD- ISO800 to ISO32000
STILL- ISO640 to ISO25600
CINE1- ISO640 to ISO25600
CINE2- ISO500 to ISO20000
CINE3- ISO800 to ISO32000
CINE4- ISO800 to ISO32000
ITU709- ISO800 to ISO32000
ITU709(800%)- ISO2000 to ISO102400

Its about time that Sony matched the FS5 to is close relative, the FS700 with the new 2000 ISO setting. I always thought the FS700 raw output looked better at 2000 ISO than the FS5 at 3200 ISO.

Im not sure why they forced the FS5 at 3200 ISO to begin with. I could only guess it was to keep it deliberately dirtier than the FS7 and keep the FS5 well seperated from it.

Im glad they fixed this.

Hi Cliff!

Have you done the upgrade? Could you see any improvement? (I'm on vacation without my FS5 so haven't done it yet.)
