Can anyone suggest a set of legs that collapse down to around 20" that could hold and FSB8 head? tia-

I use these with my DV 6 SB https://www.proav.co.uk/ei-7501-baby-legs

Heavy but they do the job set up on the passenger seat of my old "Defender"

Thanks Ron, but I think I failed to make my quest clear: I'm looking for legs that will extend to a normal height but collapse to about 20" and also accommodate a 75mm bowl.

Oops, misunderstood the question and posted a dumb reply. Please ignore.

Thanks for taking the time Greg. If I continue clarifying it it'll eventually end up like it should've been in the first place.

I'm looking for legs that will extend to a normal height but collapse to about 20" for transport, and also accommodate a 75mm bowl.

Hi, guys................ A rave from the grave.

The shortest closed sticks I'm aware of are the Sachtler 75 CF's, which come out at about 560 mm (22' plus change) from the bottom of the legs to the top of the 75mm receiver.

However, you're definition of "normal height" has to be taken into account, they ain't huge and can't be, with their slight build, being but a slim 2:1:1 design.

They ain't great but they're the closest I can get to your "Holy Grail".

You didn't mention (bad juju) what head you were planning on parking on these sticks - don't try a Vinten, it simply won't work, Libec either.

Good luck with your search.

Hey Chris, thanks so much for your reply! I did mention, albeit briefly, an FSB8 head. B&H is showing the 75CF complete as being 34" collapsed. The head surely wouldn't account for 12"?

Sorry about that, I plead incipient insanity due to old age. Tried again with the tape measure with both eyes open and came up with 66cm (26' plus change) from leg bottom to receiver top.

Your best bet is with Manfrotto, as they're pretty compatible with Sachtler heads, but there's a heck of a lot of other stuff out there now.

Good luck.

Mark S. at B&H actually found one. This looks pretty good: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1227311-REG/acebil_ct724_3_stage_32mm_pipe.html/BI/2855/KBID/3801

That Acebil/Benro is a knock-off of a Gitzo tripod. Nothing wrong with that if it’s well built, but, you might also consider Gitzo.

I have an older one with a removable 75mm bowl. This is their “Systematic” series.
This tripod (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/846203-REG/Gitzo_GT2542LS_GT2542LS_Ser_2_Systematic_4S.html), and, this bowl (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/898106-REG/Gitzo_gs3321v75_Video_Adapter_75mm_Ser.html).

More coin than the Acebil, but may be worth considering.

The collapsed length of the Gitzo is 23.7", so the Acebil/Benro definitely beats it.
