Hi all. Anyone using either the XC10 or XC15 with a C100? I've been looking at getting another camera that can match the C100. Currently I'm using the 5DM3 with MLR to match and would like to get away from DSLR's. A couple of things that have caught my attention on the XC series is the AF, built in ND, Wifi controllability, small form factor that would come in handy with my Ronin M and RC HELI. I also like that the XC15 has the XLR mic option and WFM.

I went to my local BestBuy and recorded some footage using the XC10 and I thought it looked decent. I also noticed that BB had a few open box for $1699. With that being said, I for an extra $800, I can get another C100 DPAF body.

Any input on the XC series would be appreciated.

I bought an XC10 as a b-cam for my C100. Footage looks very similar in most instances. Challenges - depth of field can be tough to match. Sometimes I feel the XC10 looks a bit soft compared to the C100. More menu-driven functions so it's a bit more fiddly. It wins on the Ronin-MX though, easy to fit & balance vs. C100, and is a decent 2nd cam during interviews if you play with it a bit. I'd say easier to shoot with vs. DSLR, and overall footage matches better (I currently use wideDR setting). Once I wished I had XLR on the XC10, which is available on the XC15. Something to consider.

Here's one of the first projects I shot using both C100 and XC10 together: Danville GLS Teaser on Vimeo
