I have a xlh1 and 2 xlh1s cameras. The xlh1s has embedded audio on the SDI out with video so works well with Blackmagic Video Assist. The xlh1 has no embedded audio. So with that camera you can't record any audio via SDI. There are RCA audio out jacks on the xlh1 but no audio in on the Blackmagic Video Assist. Could I pick up the audio pins on the hdmi plug then run audio out of the camera RCA, jacks then into Video Assist by linking into the HDMI whilst at the same time as recording video through SDI?

So how else do I record audio on the XLH1? Maybe to tape. Or else just rely only on the audio captured by the xlh1s cameras.

Please don't suggest I get new gear as I'm just on 77 yrs old, don't want new gear and client is happy with Pro Res HQ image and sound I'm getting out of these old cameras.

Owen, I'm in a similar situation (XL H1a) and wonder how this has worked out for you?
