I never use the Mac system screensaver because I am concerned it could disrupt a dvd encoding process. I also don't like screensavers in general.

Recently something is overriding my screensaver settings, which are set to Never.

My system is 10.3.9, running on one of the first G5 1.8 single processors.

A similar situation occured to me last year. An answer to a post suggested I look for any "cron" or "chron" applications. The "cron" referring to the Greek word Chronos, a mythological reference to time. I found one in my accounts>admin section>startup items called "DejaVu", a backup utility bundled with Toast Titanium. I removed DejaVu from startup items and all was fine, meaning no screensaver.

Well, I have another bug with no idea as to where it came from. Any ideas?

Are you sure that you "Energy Saver" isn't set to "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible."

Neither "put computer to sleep when possible" nor "put hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" are checked.
