Just a question of interest: How can I attach a Sennheiser K6/ME66 (or any other microphone) to the GL2/XM2 without the MA-300 (perhaps when I'm a using a Beachtek DXA-4P)?
Maybe someone has also pictures.

I personaly use the BeachTeck DXA-6 for its phantom power capability as I use the K6P and other mics. The results: wonderful, in all aspects. Better than expected.

Anyway I think this is a question already posted. I wil have a look for it.

About your question on how to connect the mics. to the DXA-6 adaptor is through an XLR standard connector, and this one to the camcorder, through the provided minijack to the mic conector on the right side of the XM2.

Ignacio what I meant was how to fasten a microphone on the XM2-body. But thanks for your explanation. Won't the sound lose quality if it goes through the mini-jack in the end?

Thanks Chris, that's what I actually meant. But what if I want to use the shoe for.. let's say a video light. Are there other ways to attach a mike to the XM2-body?

I simply use the Beyerdynamic EA86. Cheap, fits in the hotshoe and it works. If as you said you want to use the shoe for something else, I'm not sure.

Surely yes, there must be a loss in quality, but in any case unmeasurable (cable to mini-jack is about 13" large) compared with the quality of the built- in microphone.

The test has been made with a Rode NT2 mic.

I had posted a similar question last week (see http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/showthread.php?threadid=5618 ) but never got a response.

I've been using mine on top of my GL2 and attached with a Sennheiser shockmount. I have also just been using a mini-to-xlr adapter and not a Beachtek but have told that a straight coverter cable is not the way to go because of impedence issues and I need to either use my Beachtek or get a cable that matched the imedience. (Shure makes one).

I'd be curious to know more about this issue if anyone can shed some light on the subject.
