Does anyone have any GreenScreen footage from this camera?

Also - if you're planning to do effects work do you transfer to a different codec and work from there? Doesn't seem to me like you'd want to be in HDV for anything but initial recording. I'm on a Mac.

Thanks.

Ideally, you would digitize live uncompressed to a G5 via a Kona or Decklink if you were shooting green screen in a studio.

However, someone did post some HDV greenscreen samples somewhere and the 4:2:0 colour keyed better than I expected.

It was over at DvDoctor and it looked very clean and much better than DV.
Check it out Joel.

We do a fair amount of greenscreen footage with ours and it produces a very clean key (for us it is through ULTR Key). I do not have any here but can post some when I get back into the office.

Great, I'd love to see something with motion in the frame if at all possible.

I have done a Green Screen test using HDV (FX!) with a lot of motion and it has come out well.

For the test I shot a staff member using two 20 W CFL bulbs. Light was very poor. Green screen was unevenly lit. (purposely) The girl was shaking her head vigorously, her hair flying every where. A nightmare Green Screen shot.

See how it has come out. See the hair strands on top of her head.

Well I haven't shot any greenscreen yet with the HD-100 but you can see what I did with the FX-1 in this thread:

Great stuff Eric. All I've ever heard about keying the Sony's has been bad. Reminds me of Duality - they comp'd a great short that was shot on a Canon GL. I met Dave (of Duality) and he said they didn't know anything about anything when they started. Can't wait to see what you do with the JVC. Guys like you are a great motivation to me.

Glad to hear it.

I can hardly wait to try a key with the JVC. Mainly because it is a progressive image, so I won't have to deal with the nightmares of interlacing in a key ;)

Thanks,
Eric James

Exactly - which is why I'm hovering between an HVX and the JVC at the moment.

I've shot golf clubs against a blue screen and pulled a perfect key with the keying tool in Pinnacle Liquid Chrome. I was shooting HDV-30p on the JVC. I also shot the same set up with a BetaSP camera and had much poorer results. I was actually supprised of the quality and the fact that it was better than the Beta footage.
