Hi guys and gals, New stuff on the way for the HD-100.

Quoting Highway Magazine:

"The choice of 1/3" bayonet mount lenses for ProHD camcorders is set to go from two, as at its recent launch, to six by half way through 2006.
Fujinon’s new 12x and 17x lenses, complementing their existing 16x and 13x, will be available in very early 2006, with Canon introducing their first ever
1/3" bayonet mount in the spring of 2006. Later on in the year Fujinon will launch their fifth 1/3" lens which will be 18x. In summary; six dedicated 1/3" professional zoom lenses, two 1/3" lens adaptors for existing 1/2" and 2/3" lenses, a Nikon 35mm SLR lens adaptor and the Mini35 Adaptor enabling use of 35mm film lenses.

JVC set out to provide video professionals with a professional look and feel to their ProHD equipment. JVC welcomes the speed with which their ProHD concept has been accepted by the market, not just by the video professionals but by the lens and equipment manufacturers. ProHD, the choice just goes on getting wider. Vote of confidence from Fujinon and Canon"

It just seems to get better and better for ProHD. All the best....

I read that too, but I wonder if they'll actually hit those ship dates?

That's tremendous news.

Here's hoping one of those lenses is around 3.5-4mm on the wide end and around $3-$4k

JVC Europe has a pdf with accessories and it lists these lenses at the following prices:

S4x5.5BMD Fujinon 4 x zoom £6,441 (9,340€)
S16x7.3BMD Fujinon 16 x zoom £1,793 (2,600€)
S13x4.6BMD Fujinon 13 x zoom £5,386 (7,810€)
S20x6.4BMD Fujinon 20 x zoom £3,938 (5,710€)

Nothing 'cheap' but some interesting choices...

The widest there is 4.6mm. I think if I had these choices I would still get the 13x3.5

I'm curious what Canon's lens specs will be.

Wait a sec... Highway quotes 12x and 17x lenses. Jiri, are you sure these are 1/3" bayonet?

Only one of those lenses could even be remotely described as wideangle for the HD100 also.

I'm thinking these are 1/2" or 2/3" lenses.

Tim, take a look, I found it here:
http://www.jvcpro.co.uk/getResource2/e3_prohd_accessories.pdf?id=6134

It's listed as specific accessories for ProHD/HD100 on a JVC pdf. Also, in the notes they don't mention either of the adaptors (1/2 > 1/3 or 2/3 > 1/3). I could be wrong but it seems like native 1/3 zoom lenses...

A google on "S13x4.6BMD" took me to some pages that indicated it's a 1/2" lens. Same goes for "S16x7.3BMD", which even B&H has listed.

I'm relieved. Those prices and focal lengths, not one of them was going to be any good for me.
