I wanted to do some tests to compare blown up SD GL2 footage against the HD1. Here's what I got:

Unfortunately I couldn't mess around with the cameras for long because the security guy from the mall kicked me out saying I needed a permission... He was quite nice actually but I'll try to shoot something else outdoors when it stops raining overhere, ie, don't hold your breath.

IMO the HD1 is a winner in terms of resolution and surprisingly the GL2 is more grainy (look at the guys red jacket). However the GL2 wins in terms of latitude. The HD1 seems to be overexposing - didn't have time to expose properly.

My settings on the GL2 were: 1/60th shutter, 0db gain, sharpness at minimum, setup level at maximum.

Speaking about Canon's SD vs JVC's HD comparatives:

Wow. I'm impressed at how well the HD1 does with red compared to the GL2 in those photos shot at a mall. I shot some video with my HD10 last fall, where my son was wearing a really bright red jacket, and the temporal noise in the reds was really distracting (almost made the jacket look like it was on fire or something).

Does anyone have side by side compares of HD10 to HD100?
