When you plug in the mic on a GL2 with the setup above (DXA-6) does the stereo mic on the GL2 become disabled or you pick up sound thru both at the same time on separate channels? Is the answer the same if you have the Canon shotgun type mic connected to the accessory shoe?

Thanks in advance. I know I have to just test this to find out but I dont have a mic yet.

The built-in stereo mic on the GL2 becomes disabled whenever you plug an audio source into the red stereo mini-jack or the Advanced Accessory Shoe. The GL2 can handle two channels of incoming audio, so you have to choose between the built-in mic, the red audio input jack or the accessory shoe.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on buying a DM-50 and a DXA-6. If I have the DM-50 attached to the Accessory Shoe and the DXA-6 attached to the bottom of GL2, when I plug in the DXA-6 to the red audio input jack and connect a mic, I assume then that the DM-50 will be automatcially disabled. Am I right, or will I have to remove the DM-50 from the shoe?

I have been doing a lot of outdoor video of some car races and a person wants has hired me to do a video of their pre-race prep and race and I plan on using the DM-50 for the actual racing and possibly a mic I can set up close to his car while sitting outside of his trailer to get some audio of him talking with his mechanics etc. and not having to be so close to them. It seems like it will be more convenient to leave the DM-50 on the shoe and just disconnect the xlr mic from DXA-6, unplug DXA-6 from red audio input and already have the DM-50 in place.

If your interested in seeing a pic from a recent race check this one out that I took. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4273908

Thanks for your help!
