And people have actually bid on it! I wonder if they took the bidder seriously or if they know it's just a mock up....But, I agree,

that's badass

Oh it'll find plenty of bids even though it's a mock-up. Lots of folks collect that stuff. Reminds me a little of the trade show mock-ups, the "balsa cams." They're pretty expensive to make. I heard a story about Canon losing an XL1 mock-up to theft at a trade show back in 1997. Imagine the surprise of the guy who stole it when he couldn't figure out how to turn it on! They're actually quite life-like. Fooled the thief anyway.

That person has mad skills for being able to make it look so accurate.

With the amount of time it must have taken this person to make this camera they could have gotten a job and actually made enough money to buy a real one.

I really liked the part, "It might actually work, I haven't had the time to make a tape...".

He probably can't make a tape because it probably uses memory cards ;-)

That is really cool. Wish the picture was bigger though.

The basic rule of commerce is: everything is for sale for the right price. So why not make crazy things and sell them? As long as there is a buyer (it already has 13 bids as of June 9 @ 2PM Eastern)... business is booming!

Besides, it'll look good in some videographers's shop window...

Here are the pictures of the camera on ebay. After 90 days, the auction is deleted, so I figured it would be a good idea to save the pictures for those "old thread readers".

Thanks,
Luke

And best of all, it has only eight minutes fewer storage capacity than a real Panasonic HVX!
