tight.

I will say, for what it is, watching itunes TV shows on a TV really isn't that bad, even a large one.

Here's a little more info, from the AP:

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/060905/apple_online_movies.html?.v=1

Rumors of Apple Computer Inc.'s plans to launch a movie download service gained momentum Tuesday after the company sent invitations to the media, saying "It's Showtime," next week.

And this caught my eye:

Also, analysts and industry observers expect Apple to soon introduce a new iPod player with a widescreen display -- which would be better suited for viewing movies.

There is a rumor that MacMini's will recieve the Core2Duo update as well as the iMac getting a 23in. upgrade. I am seriously hoping they just go for it and release the new Macbook Pros. Im sick of waiting for mine lol.

Actually it's a 24" iMac and it was just announced today:

Apple always surprises me. At first I don't get it [the video iPod] and then eureka: TV shows!

But now full length movies?

What if this device is some kind of great network or standalone Hi-Def H.264 player and I just connect it to my HDTV?

Then we can just purchase and download HD movies and circumvent the whole HD-DVD/Blu-Ray war... [hopefully we can archive and backup the these films]

I wonder how long it takes to download these movies in HD or SD?

My 3mps DSL connection ain't gonna hack it.

My seat of the pants calculation says that you could download a standard def DVD in 3 to 4 hours using regular DVD compression. That's still a lot faster than netflix is going to be able to send you one. Queue up a few downloads when you leave for work in the morning and they would be waiting for you when you get home...

Here is an interesting story on MacCentral.

I particularly liked this part of the story:

"Whether wired or wireless, such a device would have a very clear purpose, analysts say—to deliver downloaded digital content from iTunes to your television. Endpoint’s Kay noted that Apple is already looking beyond capturing television, so the company will most likely skip that process altogether.

“In the long term, TV tuners are toast,” Kay said. “Everything will be delivered through a digital distribution system in the future. TV will be delivered the same way that Internet video is now.” "

OK... just for fun, what is the first movie you're going to download from the iTunes store? I think I'll get The Pirates of Silicon Valley: http://imdb.com/title/tt0168122/
