View Full Version : What's up with FCP and Native HDV 720p?

I noticed something rather strange and undesireable... When I played in the quicktime player a clip captured natively from final cut in 720p25, I noticed on the movie info (keystroke: Apple+i ), that the *Actual* size of the picture was 1248 x 702 pixels - check out the attached picture.

Is there Final Cut stealing pixels from us poor JVC HD100/Mac users?!

Can anyone confirm this?

I thought I knew the answer to your problem, but as it turns out I was wrong, so uh... sorry.

That's ok...
But, by the way, does the same thing happen to you?

Thanks,
Sergio.

When I capture from my XL H1 using FCP, and open the file in QT, it tells me that the size is 1888x1062, instead of the 1440x1080 that it should be. Similar problem...

Curtis, it must be a bug! I can't conceive that Final Cut would crop the picture, for any purpose whatsoever!
I think I'm going to feedback Apple on this matter.

This could also reflect (maybe) the various flavours of HDV on the various cameras and be the ultimate explanation on why HDV isn't HDV in the same sense as DV is DV.

DV is a set format. All the HDV cameras act differently.

Just a hunch...
