Now, I probably must have miss something but I did not see anywhere in the titlemix video tutorial where this guy shows you how to do a 16:9 letterbox matte so you can import it onto the camera. The video is exactly what the title tutorial describes - Titlemix. So where is it? BTW, I am using a pal version.

Ken ,thanks for the little tip but I did check all of those links and none work for me. When I clicked on one of the links you gave me it asked for some password and username for his site. Now I know most of you think I didn't do the search, but I did and apparently you think I'm trying to be lazy. Now, I'v asked this question a long time ago but it seéms people don't want to answer. I know most of you know. Any way, I'll try some other means to get a straight answer from someone. Thanks

Ah, yes, I see. Well, if you just basically need an accurate mask you can get one from Rob Lohman's "Letterbox Calculator" page (http://www.geocities.com/robvisuar/calc.htm). It's an excellent resource to which Rob, a fellow moderator here, is still adding bells and whistles.

Once you have the 16:9 mask it should be straight-forward to convert it to JPG put it on your SD card.

p.s. No, Charles I certainly didn't assume you didn't search. But that Title mix thread was long and sometimes good stuff gets buried in those long 'uns.

Thanks Ken, That lookes to be very helpful. I wonder why I can't seem to find any links that work to Tustin's letterbox matte. Oh well, thanks any way. This looks good enough. I'll try the exporting this matte on the link you gave me using Tustin titlemix tutorial.

is there some advantage to doing this kind of thing on the camera if you have access to programs like final cut pro or other nle programs?

Yes & No. In post, you have more control and you can get alot more detailed! Editing is always the best way to add to your video. But what if you dont have time to edit? Or what if you pre-made the titles for that b-day party? Or didn't want a distorted image when doing 16x9 work? It is a matter of convenience.

Using the Title Mix Function can play a very important role in your videography. For instance; Great for recognition!
You are first on the scene of some major breaking news event, you don't have time to capture your footage, create a logo/bug, edit and export footage to camera. By using the Title Mix, you have your logo/bug already saved on the camera, just activate the title mix! Everyone will know that it is your footage. It will have your logo on the video itself, not a layer that can be deleted/hidden.

Great for letterboxing. I use my letterbox matte all the time. I joke with my girlfriend about switching my video into an epic performace with the push of a button. It's great.
16x9 without the screen getting all streched out! The way it should be.

Just about any titles, logos, bugs, graphics can be made into a Title Mix file. Just follow the steps in the tutorial... very easy!
