Talk about bad timing. I just bought Shake two months ago. Is all of Shake now integrated into Final Cut Studio 2??? If so, I've been ripped!

Are there things that Shake will do that FCStudio 6 won't?

not that it would matter to you (as you got more than what you you paid for when you bought it, assuming you only paid the cheap knock down price it currently sell for) ...

but to answer your question, No, all of Shake is not now inside FCS2. Shake still performs those many high end compositing functions not available in FCP6.

As far as I can tell, they only brought two technologies over from Shake into FCS2 so far: Smoothcam (Stabilizer and tracker) and Time remapper.

Otherwise, you will still have to fire the old tractor up to plow through your other effects bread and butter.

May be a little OT, but are there any good free tutorial sites for shake out on the web. I can find so much more in the way of AE stuff ...perhaps if I just had an AE > Shake mental conversion tutorial, I could use all the AE tutorials to learn shake...the books are too broad and slow for learning...I'm a visual guy, I bought the books and they aren't helping as I can't eke out the time to read them :(

Not too ironically, I'm a visual learner :) I have the first book and just can't get through it...I've been using it more as a reference while doing tasks than a learning tool. As far as video series, I'd love to buy some, but I spent all my money on getting shake and that book ;)

Philosophically, I grew up with educators and firmly believe that learning and information want to be free. I share absolutely everything I learn for free, and simply hope Karma will reward me with free information when I need it (I'm a holdover from the Gopher, IRC, NNTP [pre scary porn] days of the Net too).

I'll absolutely make use of the discussion boards once I find out what questions I have, but I don't have enough experience with shake yet for any questions they could answer.

Thanks for the comprehensive list of resources, I'll also be saving up to buy those videos and the second book, but it'll be a long time for that.
