I'm capturing footage from a Sony M15U deck to my Mac Pro with FCP6. I don't hear audio as it captures. Why?

Please don't inform me to plug in headphones or speakers. That's pretty obvious.

You hear audio from the camera not final cut, while capturing. So turn up the volume on your camera.
or in this case the deck

I believe that in one of the capture windows (In log and capture) there is an option to monitor your audio.

In the Log and Capture window:
1. Go to "Clip Settings" Tab
2. Click the "Audio" box
3. Click the small "Preview" box

You should now be able to preview your audio while capturing.

If the prior post doesn't solve it, make sure you selected the audio channels that you are importing (i.e. 1+2, 3+4, or 1-4 mixdown) in your capture preset.

With HDV you will not be able to monitor the audio in FCP during capture. You can only hear the audio from the deck - (with a slight delay)

The feature in FCP does not come up in HDV
