We'll know whenever Canon is ready to announce their next pro camera(s), and not before. The linked article is just a re-hash of rumors that have been circulating and recirculating for months. Could be true, could be total Bull, or could be somewhere in between. Anyone who might actually know would be under strict non-disclosure and VERY unlikely to tell (and I'm definitely NOT, so please don't try to read anything into my words beyond their face value).

I was just reading the thread about the rumored new Canon camera and then noticed it was closed. Why close a rumor thread in Area 51? There didn't appear to be anything malicious about the linked article. Just wondering.

I'd say probably because it's been talked about here already. I know both in the wedding forum and the 5D forum we've talked extensively of the benefits and non benefits of this rumor camcorder. They probably closed it because of that. Who knows bro.

We're fairly diligent about closing off any references or links to so-called "camera rumor" sites because they're generally far too ridiculous even for Area 51. Those sites exist for one single purpose, and that's to get clicks (the more outlandish the rumor, the more traffic they get). We're not here for the purpose of driving traffic to those sites. We're here for our own purposes.

Please feel free to generate your own rumors here; I have no problem if you want to use Area 51 to propagate some speculation (that's what it's for, after all). But this isn't a springboard for other rumor mills -- we're our *own* rumor mill. That's why this board was set up in the first place, so have at it.
