My response from Canon about a new GL3. I knew I wouldn't get much.

Dear Mr. Zimmerman:

Thank you for your inquiry. We value you as a Canon customer and
appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your Canon product
question.

At this moment there is no information available regarding a new product
announcement in this category. Please keep in mind, however, that Canon
continuously reviews its product lineup, and as new products are
introduced, existing models are often taken out of production. We
recommend you check our website (www.powershot.com) from time to time to
learn of new product announcements in the U.S. market.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Please feel free to contact
us again if you have any other questions or concerns regarding Canon
products.

Thank you for choosing Canon.

Sincerely,

XXXX

Heh, I'm sure that response is also useful when somebody asks if they're going to introduce a new copier, scanner, pair of binoculars or calculator :-) And also notice they direct you to their still camera website...

Michael Wisniewski February 5th, 2006 07:00 PM

The PMA at the end of Feb might be on their minds. Suggesting the still camera site might have been a gentle hint and/or innocent slip.

Try again after PMA, and see if they suggest another site when NAB is in the batter's box!

It is the first time they have done that come to think of it.
