It's more likely that cloning of preserved body cells of mammoths could produce offspring. The Pygmy Mammoths of Wrangel Island survived until just 1,000 years ago, so I wonder if there's any of them that are frozen? At only 1 ton in weight, they'd be more practical as backyard pets. What's next? Resurection of Neanderthals? Actually, I knew one of them in college. You couldn't watch him for 5 seconds and not know what he was. He went on to a successful career in Canadian football (he couldn't remember enough plays for the more complex American game).
