HDMI Splitter For Original Ninja

I just purchased two of the original Ninja's to use with my Sony V1U cameras. Unlike the Ninja 2 the original does not have an HDMI pass through.

I would like to use an HDMI splitter for the signal out of the camera. One to supply to the Ninja and one for my field monitor I use when the camera is mounted on my Kessler Crane.

The Atomos site / forum mentioned that with some HDMI splitters there can be issues with dropped frames. My general research on the internt seems to indicate that this issue of dropped frames happens with passive splitters. For that reason I want a battery powered one.

I have found a lot of AC powered splitters but not many battery powered ones. I see a Marshall one for $99. anybody have any first hand or even second hand knowledge of a good splitter that works well with the ninja?

After a few weeks and a few hundred views no input on a battery powered HDMI splitter so I have gone ahead and ordered the only battery powered one I found, the Marshall one for $99.

I will try to remember to report back if it works without dropping frames once I get it and test it in case anybody else needs this solution.

I would really appreciate that if you could let us know how you fare with the Marshall: I'm facing exactly the same issue myself on a forthcoming shoot. Up to now I've been able to use a mains powered HDMI splitter with no problems, but in this instance I'll be in a field in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks

Mark

Mark,

the Marshsall arrives tomorrow, naturally the same day I am leaving town on a business trip. However I hope to do a test this coming weekend and if I do I will post my results.

It really hurt my pocketbook to see a ton of AC powered HDMI splitters with great reviews for $25-$35 but none battery powered. Hard to believe I am having to pay $65-$75 for that option.
