AVCHD Footage to the Web (Motionbox)

I just got an HG-10 and am very green when it comes to video editing. What I ultimately want to do is take footage from the Canon and load it up to the web using a service like Motionbox (http://www.motionbox.com/welcome/lea...learnmore_head). According to the Motionbox FAQ (http://www.motionbox.com/help/faq/up...s_can_i_upload) the service doesn't accept .m2ts files so I need to convert the AVCHD files to one of the following: .avi, .mov, .dv, .mpg, .mp4, .wmv, .asf, or .qt. And they recommend that you also compress the files to 200 kbps to 500 kbps (see recommended compression settings here: http://blog.motionbox.com/2007/01/co...r_the_web.html)

So can someone please walk me through how I accomplish this? Again I apologize for my lack of experience with this so assume I don't understand much at all. I am currently using the Corel applications that came with the Canon. Do I need other software?

TIA

I am using Pinnacle Studio 11+ on a PC. I got it for about $50 on sale during Xmas time.

The ulead appears to be only for making DVDs

Here's a couple of options

I also use Studio 11 Plus to create my videos. I also use Elecard Converter Studio AVC HD Edition that will convert to mpeg2 and AVI and Imtoo mpeg converter that will convert just about any format from AVI to anything. Currently it does not support AVCHD.

Studio will give you the most options, but it takes a lot of processor and ram to work with these AVCHD files. I have been using Studio for around 2 years and it works pretty good if you have a system that will support it. I think you will find working with AVCHD files takes a larger system requirements than DV use to take.

Anyway, just search for any of these on the web.

Have fun,

Mike
