AVCHD bit rates & Editors

I shoot most of my videos at 24Mbps but I now have found that Vegas 9 which I use, only processes up to 17Mbps. I was wondering therefore what bit rates do some of the newer and cheaper editors handle such as Pinnacle 14, Power Director, Corel etc.
The manufacturers seem to be a bit coy with these specs.
