Toast options for FCP

Of all the conversion software Toast seems the most flexible withe regards to formats. I'm trying to convert AVCHD files into different formats (specifically DVpro50) for ingest into FCP. But.... Toast can never get the aspect ratio right.

I've tried 20 tests various tests on it and it always comes up either overstretched or letterboxed. I'm going for a frame size of 720 x 576.

I know it works perfectly with Pros Res but am wanting to use its myriad of formats on offer (falsely??)

Voltaic seems to work but is agonisingly slow.

Any other software suggestions or workarounds?
